Session 1 – Greeting cards
To begin the festive season children made greeting cards by making special kinds of paper. One was chalk powder based and the other one was oil based. Children then stuck cut outs of flowers, beads etc and decorated the greetings.
Session 2 – Paper panti making
Using some origami papers and folding technique, children made paper pantis ti decorate their houses for coming Diwali festival.
Session 3 – Utna making
Children were introduced to various plant based ingredients used to make Utna. They were explained its importance during winter. Children drew the different parts of plants that we used in making the Utna.
Session 4 – Soap making
Soaps are special and making them was fun. Children’s were given to cut and chop fine the soap base and glycerin bars. Later they added essence and color to the molten mixture and pored them in ice-cube molds to set. Children were very happy to see the soaps and take them home.
Session 5 – Magical Rangoli
Children were demonstrated how to draw a Rangoli under water. They were amazed to see how the rangoli stayed intact even after pouring water on it. They came to know about the magical ingredient we used for this Magical rangoli.
Session 6 – Deepotsav and Annakoot
Children were very excited to light the lamps for celebrating Dev-Diwali. They arrange the lamps on the figure of Om and recited some shlokas. They brought prasad to share that was made of millets. A healthy way to eat. It was a fantastic celebration.
