Leaves are a blessings – July 2025

Session 1 – Etching the leaves with different color crayons

Children went on a leaf hunt and were amazed to see the variety of leaves in the surroundings.
They sorted the leaves in different ways and talked about the similarities and differences in the
leaves. They enjoyed etching the leaves with different colour crayons.

Session 2 –Study the structure of each leaf

Children got a chance to use a magnifying glass to study the structure of each leaf and describe it. They recorded their observations. They talked about the different types of vein arrangements. They understood the importance of these veins to the plants

Session 3 –Different types of leaves that we eat

Children talked about different types of leaves that we eat. They then segregated leaves that have special flavours. They enjoyed cooking ‘patole’ a Maharashtrian Konkan special delicacy, in turmeric leaves. They loved the flavourful treat very much!

Session 4 –To make impressions of a variety of leaves

Children tried to make impressions of a variety of leaves on a rough sheet. Later they printed them on a A4 sheet to make table mats. They loved this idea of placing the table mat when they ate their food everyday.
