The theme for the month of June was ‘I am going to rock my school year’ – Fitness Funda
Session 1 – Spatial Awareness and Core strength building
Activities related to the physical aspect of spatial awareness and core strength needed for beginning the school year were conducted in the first session. Balancing acts and obstacle race provided an opportunity to children to understand their body periphery and adjusting accordingly.
Session 2 – Healthy Eating Choices for school tiffin
In this session children discussed foods that are healthy and made a graph plan for a week’s tiffin. Children also made some healthy sandwich options and enjoyed eating them.
Session 3 – Stamina Building with Yoga
In order to maintain a good posture while sitting in classroom and for studies children got to learn some yoga poses. They learnt them step wise and practiced each one of them looking at the pictures.
Session 4 – Mindfulness meditation and Breathing techniques
Children learnt certain breathing exercises and meditation techniques that will help them relieve their stress and reduce exhaustion after a long day at school. This will also help them retain information they have learnt at school for a long period of time. Meditation with colours was interesting and attractive technique that they liked the most. Their drawings about thankfulness meditation gave us a glimpse of who all stay in their minds.
